Segura Viudas - Spanish Cava

Segura Viudas ARIA Brut

Segura Viudas ARIA Estate Brut

Segura Viudas hand crafts distinctive, artisan méthode champenoise sparkling wines according to Cava traditions begun over 100 years ago. Steeped in rich Spanish heritage and situated on an estate that dates to the 11th century, Segura Viudas draws on this legacy, blending it with modern winemaking to create sophisticated yet approachable Cavas. The Segura Viudas wines come from the renowned Penedès region of Spain just outside of Barcelona. The ARIA line spotlights select vineyards, the romance that old-vine Parellada can produce, and low fermentation temperatures yielding delicacy, aroma and the signature grace of cuvées.

Winemaker's Notes
ARIA Estate Brut is dry, lively and refreshing, appropriate for any occasion. Its flavor is dominated by fresh pineapple, almonds, honey and straw, with hints of pears and fresh bread.

Sommelier's Recommendation
As a Reserva Cava with long aging on the lees, this is a perfect match for grilled poultry. It is also ideal with shellfish and white fish. A great accompaniment with mild cheeses such as Gouda, and Jamon Serrano.

"Apple and peach aromas come with a hint of lime. This is clean and feels good on the palate, where apple, peach and nectarine flavors lead to a straight-ahead finish that feels right."

"Floral, citrus, honey, and bread dough aromas are even-tempered and fairly attractive. Citrus and tart peach start the palate with a touch of bread dough, and later melon and lime come into the picture. This is quite refreshing, well made, and brighter than your typical Cava. For the price, it certainly meets expectations and would be great to sip on the deck in the summer or on a balcony overlooking the sea."

"Creamy, with bread dough and toasted almond notes mixing with more subtle flavors of star fruit, green melon and thyme."
