Segura Viudas - Spanish Cava

Segura Viudas ARIA Brut

Segura Viudas ARIA Estate Brut ARIA Brut is a méthode champenoise sparkling wine from the Segura Viudas Estate in Torrelavit, in Spain's Alt Penedès region, and is styled after Segura Viudas' top-of-the-line cava, Reserva Heredad. ARIA Brut is a blend of only the first gentle pressings of the Macabeo, Parellada and Xarel-lo grapes. Macabeo provides a fine, honeyed aroma; Parellada lends subtle elegance; and the Xarel-lo provides the backbone of the cava and gives both body and good acidity.

Winemaker's Notes
On one hand, the Macabeo delivers notes of freshness, body and traces of citrus: on the other the Parellada... subtleness and elegance of vine flowers, and a hint of aromatic herbs. The color is straw yellow tending towards gold, and there is a fine, integrated mousse. The rich nose and elegant palate are enhanced by the long aging period, which contributes notes of pastries and butter. Above all, there is a perfect balance between fruit, acidity and a refreshing finish.

Sommelier's Recommendation
As a Reserva cava and a long aging on its lees, we have created a wine with fine personality, making it a perfect match for grilled poultry or rich casseroles. It is also ideal with shellfish, grilled white fish and full flavored river fish. Try it too with mild cheeses such as Gouda or Edam, and then there is Iberian Ham.

88 POINTS
"Mineral, lime and crisp apple aromas give it a precise, pure nose. And that same character exists on the palate and finish, where white peach, green banana and melon flavors are full and forward. Shows good concentration and quality."
